As part of the year of Zayed, a permanent tribute of art installations to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was revealed in Abu Dhabi last month, marking the centenary of his birth.
An installation called “the constellation” forms the centre piece of the memorial. Made up of over 13,000 geometric shapes suspended on over 1,000 cables, the installation is said to shine like stars – evoking the timelessness of Sheikh Zayed’s mission.
When it opens, the attraction will include a visitor’s centre celebrating the life of Sheikh Zayed and gardens with trees and plants indigenous to the UAE.
