Mercedes-Benz made history this month when the newest E-Class model completed the first autonomous drive between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The major leap forward into the future of mobility took place on the E11 highway, in collaboration with Dubai’s Road & Transport Authority.
Committed to the highest standards of safety, the entire process was overseen by expert engineers from Germany who applied specific software modifications to the Drive Pilot control unit to make the E-Class drive highly automated. The application was developed for testing purposes and is not yet a standard feature of the E-Class.
