Dubai dives into the future of food safety, with new digital platform Food Watch, integrating technology like big data and Internet of things with the food supply chain.
By 2020, it’s expected that all food establishments in Dubai are registered to a system which traces the safety of food, from origins to consumers. Establishments will supply information about their food items, and health & nutritional claims creating a digital info-system for both consumers and food companies.
This is a great step towards mitigating food safety risks in a city that imports approximately $200 billion of food from over 200 countries.
