Look out UAE, there’s a new wave of young innovators coming through. At just 14 years old, Rishabh Java from GEMS Millennium School in Sharjah has designed his very first mind-controlled bionic arm.
Taking part in the first Gulf 3D Printing Olympiad, Java was one of several students between ages 10-25 asked to design and 3D print an innovative consumer product.
Java’s winning creation is a low-cost, functional 3D-printed bionic forearm, built using an electrophysiological monitoring method to record electrical activity of the brain and perform simple tasks such as shaking hands and picking up objects.
