Off the beaten track in Ras Al Khor is Dubai Wildlife Sanctuary. Dubai is a popular stop over on the winter migration route and since 1998 this hidden sanctuary has been home to hundreds of resident and migratory birds.
The sanctuary features two viewing decks, and it’s best to visit between November and April when you’ll enjoy the vibrant colours of more than 270 species of bird, including the beautiful bright greater flamingos.
Visitors can go and see the wide variety of birds and even small mammals up close from Saturday to Thursday, 9am to 4pm with no admission fees.
