Ghafa the Ghaf tree

by

A new eco campaign is encouraging people to make household purchases that will help bring back the endangered Ghaf tree to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

For every Procter & Gamble item purchased at Carrefour in the UAE, P&G says it will plant a Ghaf seed, with a target of ultimately planting 20,000 seeds across the country.

Ghaf trees are not as abundant as they previously were across the UAE deserts. They are a hardy species and survive arid conditions in the dunes by sinking roots extremely deep into the earth, finding moisture that most ordinary plants can’t source.
