Waste-free by 2020

by

Dubai has upped the ante on sustainability, announcing it will become the world’s first waste-free city by 2020. That’s quite ambitious considering it has one of the highest levels of waste generation per capita.

The Wastenizer by Dubai Municipality plans to change all that by integrating waste treatment units into buildings and communities.

Smart Collection bins will segregate and sort waste using AI. The waste then gets heated, broken down into its chemical components and converted into clean energy that feeds the local grid. Even the ashes get transformed into green concrete for sustainable construction.

Way to go Dubai.
