COVID-19: UAE stem cell therapy

by The 100 Companies

If you haven’t already heard about it, Abu Dhabi-based doctors have announced pioneering work in stem cell therapy to repair lung damage caused by the coronavirus infection.

Dubbed as a national achievement for the UAE, the treatment is supportive rather than curative, and helps alleviate COVID-19 symptoms caused by the virus.

So, how does it work? Stem cells are extracted from the patient’s own blood and reintroduced into the lungs by inhalation after “activating” them. The treatment has successfully undergone the initial phase of clinical trials, demonstrating its safety. The treatment has also successfully treated 73 COVID-19 patients so far.
