Emirates Catering has announced that it will be building the largest vertical farm in the world, which will be used to grow produce for catering Emirates flights.
In partnership with U.S.-based company Crop One Holdings INC, Emirates group is set to build the 130,000-square-foot facility near Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai. The new vertical farm will use 99% less water than your average farm, with the production output of up to 900 acres of farmland.
Construction is expected to last for one year, starting in November – with expectations of harvesting for flights by December 2019.
