Desert fish farming now a reality in Dubai

Salmon is certainly a popular fish – it’s everywhere, from sushi and poke bowls, to salmon eggs benedict. If you were to guess where the salmon you eat comes from, you’d probably say Scotland – you’d never guess the UAE.

And you’d be right – UAE supermarkets and restaurants import 100% of their salmon. However, on April 5, Fish Farm LLC will bring the first UAE-grown salmon to local supermarkets and restaurants.

Aimed at boosting the country’s food security and using the latest aquaculture technology, Fish Farm’s bred-in-the-UAE salmon will help reduce the dependency on foreign and imported fish.
