Salik road tolls were introduced to Dubai in 2007. Dubai is currently the only emirate in the UAE that imposes road tolls. However, according to local media reports, Abu Dhabi officials plan to introduce Salik tolls later on this year.
While officials have not yet confirmed the decision, local dailies said toll gates are expected to open in four locations – which include the Sheikh Zayed Bridge, Sheikh Khalifa Bridge, Mussafah Bridge and Al Maqta Bridge – this October.
Motorists will need to pay Dh100 for a Salik tag, but this includes Dh50 in credit that’s added to an account when activated.
