H&M wants to turn your old clothes into new

by The 100 Companies

In efforts to become more sustainable, fast fashion brand H&M is giving customers the chance to transform unwanted apparel into revamped fashion favorites. With the help of its new garment-to-garment recycling machine, “Loop,” customers can transform their old clothes into brand new ones.

Customers can watch the container-sized machine swallow unwanted garments, clean them, shred them into fibers, spin them into yarn and then knit them into new fashion items.

Some sustainably sourced materials need to be added during the process, but the system uses no water or chemicals, thus having a significantly lower environmental impact than when producing garments from scratch.
