A Four-hour Swim Around the Palm Jumeirah

In memory of their grandfather, two brothers – Sherif and Omar Saadawi – swam around the Palm Jumeirah with one goal: to raise awareness and funds for diabetes research.

The gruelling 10km swim took three months of preparation and over four hours to complete starting from 5am, when the weather was much cooler, but still pretty hot. Other than the blistering heat, high water temperature and distance they faced, Omar was stung by a jellyfish.

The proceeds of the charity swim will be donated to the Al Jalila foundation to fund research into the prevention and treatment of diabetes and other diseases.
