The Dubai Municipality has developed an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) – the Flying Rescuer – to help maintain safety and security on public beaches in the Emirates.
Equipped with two cameras, the UAV has high precision navigation for live video transmission and for facilitating the launch of rescue pipes and buoys to the drowning area, as well as an integrated remote voice system for voice guidance. It has a battery life of up to 30 minutes, allowing multiple flights without having to recharge the battery.
In terms of design and use, the UAV is the first of its kind in the world.
