As the fifth largest global oil exporter, it would be easy to think the UAE would not be interested in climate change or the challenges of clean energy.
Don’t be fooled. The UAE has taken sustainability seriously since before 2015.
As part of the United Nations’ sustainable development goals of 2030, the UAE committed to contributing over AED3.1 billion to fund renewable energy in 30+ countries and will invest AED600 billion by 2050, as part of the UAE Energy Strategy 2050.
The strategy will see clean energy increase from 25% to 50% and reduce the power generation carbon footprint by 70%.
