Responding to one of the major challenges facing the MENA region ‒ water sustainability ‒ HSBC launched the Tatawwar programme in 2019, in partnership with the British Council and Potential.com.
Tatawwar is the latest in a series of efforts by HSBC to accelerate innovation and encourage investment in water preservation, by creating awareness about water scarcity and developing the skills of the upcoming younger generation.
The initiative targets students from the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Egypt. Almost 500 alumni in eight countries applied in this first year of Tatawwar. Seventy-eight applicants completed the programme and submitted business plans.
