This year on January 1, a 5% value added tax was introduced in the UAE and has since then been the hottest topic within the region.
But there is good news for tourists looking to holiday in the UAE. According to Federal Tax Authority official Khalid Al Bustani, all tourists will soon be able to get a refund on all VAT incurred from their purchases while on holiday in the Dubai.
The plans are yet to be finalised, but a company will be selected to handle all refunds in order to ensure that all processes are efficient and remain transparent.
