The virtual hiring process shouldn’t have distractions

When establishing a video interview, ensure there is a backup plan in the event of a technology glitch on either side i.e., phone numbers, emails, instant messages, etc.

While most interviews are with someone at home, make sure to communicate the expectations of the video environment – for example, minimizing distractions like the background image, barking dogs, children, cellphones or landscaping crews.

Most candidates today haven’t experienced a video interview and don’t realize how to frame their head and shoulders, how to look at the camera instead of themselves on the screen or how to pause to avoid delayed talk-overs.
