The region’s first environmental monitoring satellite is set to be launched into space next year. Commissioned by Dubai Municipality, the satellite will orbit the earth 14 times a day, accumulating data to enable control of air pollution and environmental hazards.
Able to monitor air pollutants as well as greenhouse gases, the satellite uses special technology in order to collate data from space during sandstorms.
The data will be used to inform health and safety initiatives for the community and will be incorporated into research on marine environmental phenomena.
We’re proud of Dubai’s increasing commitment to improving the environment for all.
