Will Mohamed Salah fast for Champions League final?

by

As Ramadan kicks off, coinciding with football’s prestigious 2019 Champions League final, a perplexing thought came to my mind: Some players will start that game having fasted all day.

The final kicks off in Madrid at 9pm, with sunrise predicted for 6:47am and sunset for 9:38pm that day. As fasting during daylight hours is compulsory for Ramadan, fasting players will have no water or food for 14 hours, 51 minutes, until the 39th minute of the game.

For most non-Muslims like me, that must seem unfathomable – best of luck to all fasting players involved. I admire you.
