The Lebanese musical icon Fairouz, or the “Jewel of Lebanon,” arguably one of the most celebrated Arab singers, has released her new album “Bebalee” or “On My Mind” after a seven-year hiatus from the music world.
Born in 1935, Fairouz has appeared in musicals, films and concerts across the globe and recorded no less than an impressive 685 songs.
The mesmerising album includes 10 songs that have been sampled and reimagined from Western classics such as John Lennon’s “Imagine” and Julie Covington’s “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.”
