Back in March, on World Happiness Day, travellers at DXB were welcomed by many a friendly face and even cartoon masks. One thing they were not expecting to receive was smiley faces in their passports, and that’s exactly what they got.
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs distributed happiness stamps to all customs officers at the Dubai airport, which they used to brighten up the moods of travellers after long trips.
Each stamp was inscribed with a smiley face and read “Welcome to Happy UAE” in Arabic and English. Officers even wore masks and posed with arriving passengers.
